Restoring Hope and Dignity
Our Story
On a crisp September day in 2023, the idea to form a nonprofit charity emerged. My husband and I were paying school fees, buying uniforms, shoes and school supplies, and funding education for a few students we could afford.
The turning point came when we realized the impact we could achieve if we were a nonprofit which far surpassed what we could do on our own. Instead of helping a handful of children, we could help thousands of children.
The journey of transforming a simple idea into a fully-fledged nonprofit organization was an adventure. We delved into research and sought advice from mentors to bring our vision to life.
Now the first order of business was assembling a passionate and committed board of directors. Recognizing the importance of diverse perspectives, we soon had a dedicated group of individuals that wanted to join the cause, each bringing unique skills and experiences to the table.
The next step was drafting the organization's bylaws. After that we commenced working on a comprehensive business plan. It would serve as a roadmap guiding the organization’s growth and development over the coming years.
On October 24th 2023, we filed our nonprofit with the Ohio Secretary of State. We contacted the IRS to gain our EIN number, then we filed the 1023 form to gain our 501 (C) (3) tax-exempt status.
After completing these tasks, our dream had now taken root - our vision to transform the destinies of thousands was becoming a reality.
The Key to Breaking the Cycle of Poverty is Education
The narrative of breaking the cycle of poverty evolved from a singular focus on education to a holistic approach that acknowledged the interconnectedness of basic needs.
Poverty being dismantled would not succeed without nourishment for stomachs gnawing from hunger and access to clean drinking water. The result would be fewer cases of waterborne diseases, improved health, and a newfound vigor for learning.
Ending Water Crisis in African Communities
At the heart of Operation Revitalize Africa’s transformative agenda is a commitment to tackling the water crisis plaguing impoverished villages. Our foremost objective is the drilling of boreholes to provide clean drinking water.
Furthermore, understanding the intricate link between water and agriculture, we adopted to have drip irrigation systems installed on farms. In the face of recurring droughts, these systems will enhance needed food production.
Finally, we turned our attention to the schools themselves, recognizing the importance of an environment conducive to learning. Renovation projects would breathe new life into existing schools.
Education funding and learning infrastructure
Then in underserved areas where the need for education is dire, we are embarking on an ambitious initiative to build new schools. These structures will be symbols of hope rising like beacons in villages long overlooked.
What a wonderful vision that we have undertaken to bring to fruition. With encouragement from our friends, family and board members we began our journey to transform the lives of thousand of children. The impact will be enormous. Instead of helping a handful of children, we will help thousands, if not millions of children.
